The River Usk at Penpont has approximately 1½ miles of fishing. Situated a few miles above Brecon, it provides some excellent wild brown trout fishing. As is normally the case with the Usk, the fishing is usually better early season with April, May and June being the most productive months. Any rain at the height of summer, however, can improve chances drastically. Dropping temperatures make September a good time to try too. Penpont also produces the occasional sewin and salmon.
