Tal-y-llyn Lake is a 220 acre ribbon lake situated north-east of Tywyn and north of Machynlleth at the foot of Cadair Idris in Southern Snowdonia. Tal-y-Llyn Lake is at the head of Afon Dysynni, a river only 8 miles long and entering the sea at Tywyn. This beautiful lake offers superb wild brown trout fishing from the bank (boat fishing is no longer available at the site) As the lake has an average depth of only 8ft, floating lines can be used from the outset. The fishing season runs from March 20th to October 17th and in the later part of the season sea trout and salmon sometimes run up the river Dysynni into Tal-y-Llyn. The lake offers superb brown trout fishing and if you’re looking for somewhere very different for a fishing holiday, or are just after an alternative to the somewhat sterile surroundings of a rainbow trout fishery, Tal-y-Llyn is the answer. It has a good head of wild brown (it is no longer stocked). The glacial lake is fed by clear mountain water from the nearby heights.
