Porthcawl: Sker Point

Porthcawl has fishing from Sker Point, which is at the eastern end of Kenfig Sands, with fishing onto a mixed sand and rock bed.

Fish caught in the Porthcawl area include gurnard, bass, rays, pollack, mullet, conger, mackerel, smooth-hound.

Sker Point is reached by walking westwards from Rest Bay or eastwards from Kenfig National Nature Reserve. For Rest Bay, travel south on the A4106 in Porthcawl and go straight on across a roundabout. Carry on along the promenade past the harbour. Continue up the Esplanade, which changes names several times. Rest Bay is well signposted off this road. Parking is available.

Be aware Sker point is a long walk over rough, rocky ground. Do not attempt in darkness without a torch.

Kenfig National Nature Reserve is well signposted in the area.

Porthcawl also has fishing from a pier, several beaches and rock marks.
