Merthyr Tydfil Angling Association: Cantref Reservoir

Cantref Reservoir is the middle reservoir on the A470 between Merthyr Tydfil and Brecon. This 42 acre water holds a population of wild brown trout which average about 10oz and run to 1lb in weight.

It is also stocked a few times a year with rainbow trout by the Merthyr Tydfil Angling Association, who control the fishing. Due to rainbows being present the season runs 1st March to 30th November.

Fishing is by fly only. Day tickets can be purchased via the club website, castbooker or from the Bait Shack tackle shop in Merthyr.
