Gwent Angling Society: River Llynfi - Fishing in Wales

Gwent Angling Society: River Llynfi

UPDATE: The river was completely wiped out by another significant pollution incident in the summer of 2020. It will take several years for the rivers fish stocks and insect life to recover.

Gwent Angling Society has game fishing for trout and grayling on the River Llynfi, from Pipton bridge to the confluence with the Wye and also downstream from Pontithel bridge.

The Llynfi is a small but characterful lowland river, historically it has been well know for its excellent wild trout fishing and especially the mayfly hatch.

Sadly it suffered a major fish kill a few years ago but is recovering well with good numbers of fish now being reported.

To fish the Llynfi , anglers must join the club as full members. There may be a waiting list for membership currently, apply to the secretary for details. Day tickets are available, to guests of members.
