The two Gamallt Lakes (24 and 5 acres) are situated in the Western part of the Migneint Mountain and are a fairly easy 25-minute walk from the car park. They are considered one of the finest wild brown fisheries in Wales, with free rising trout over 1lb in weight regularly caught. Local flies, known as “Ffestiniog Flies”, work best at the Gamallt Lakes. There are collections of these flies for day fishing, night fishing and for different periods during the fishing season. The more popular of these flies are :- Mallard and Chocolate, Reddish-Black Sedge, Hares Ear Sedge, Large Reddish-Black Sedge, Robat Jos’ Shop Sedge, (and a few other sedges), Fflambo, Mallard and Claret and the Heather Fly.
