Aberystwyth Angling Association has fishing on the River Rheidol. The River Rheidol fishing is 16 miles of both banks from the sea to Devil’s Bridge. With around forty recognised pools the river is one of Wales’ premier salmon and sewin (sea trout) fisheries with double-figure specimens of both species being caught on a regular basis. It also holds a few wild brown trout. The flow of the river is largely governed by a hydroelectric scheme which can cause the river level to rise very quickly and unexpectedly. Whilst this can be problematic if night fishing, it does also mean that the river can go into spate even on a dry summers day.
