’Fishing In Wales’ Secures new funding!!

The Angling Trust are delighted to announce a new funding partnership with Natural Resources Wales (NRW) for the continuation of the successful ‘Fishing In Wales’ (FiW) project which was launched in July 2020.

Working with NRW, The Angling Trust has secured funding until 31st March 2023 to further promote the wealth of fishing opportunities available to resident and visiting anglers in Wales. NRW funding will allow The Angling Trust to continue promoting angling opportunities in Wales, with the aim of encouraging significantly more participation via the ‘Fishing In Wales’ brand, including new written and video content to inspire, as well as providing a comprehensive website resource with information on all aspects of fishing in Wales, plus a ‘shop window’ for Welsh angling clubs, fisheries and related amenities.

The Fishing in Wales (FiW) project led by the Angling Trust and in partnership with Visit Wales and NRW has been a huge success since it was launched in 2020. In just over a year FiW achieved 300,000 website sessions, over 100,000 video views and a significant following on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. The dedicated website ensures visiting and local anglers have easy access to all the information they require to ensure an enjoyable and successful fishing trip in Wales.

Building on the existing use of social media platforms as well as a YouTube channel, FiW plans to go from strength to strength in the coming years by using high quality film, blog and print media to showcase the quality of coarse, sea and game fishing experiences available throughout Wales. As well as being a healthy and enjoyable past time for thousands of people in Wales, angling also brings in millions of pounds annually to the Welsh economy helping to support jobs and businesses in rural communities.
